Come out to the finish line event at The Salama Institute from 3:30-7 p.m. on Saturday, September 11. This free event includes music, games, inflatables, food and more!
A couple of days ago I turned 56. Today, to celebrate my birthday and as a challenge to myself, I will run 56 miles.
Yes, you read that right. 56 miles in one day. Two marathons in a row, plus a few extra miles to round up to my age. I call it my Big, Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) for 2010.
This event is not only a challenge but a way to raise money and awareness for a worthy cause: The Salama Institute.
The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare.
On this site, you’ll discover more about why I’m running, what I’m doing to prepare for the big day, and what you can do to help me. You can even run part of it with me.
Take a look at me on Channel 4 with Rudy Kalis and Terry Bulger! Click here.

Bill, I am looking forward to celebrating your accomplishment. Man you are old 🙂
Enjoy the weekend!

I knew we had “nuts” in our family. You are the one ! ! !
I talk with Bill yesterday about his run 56@56… This is an amazing goal. We all need to get behind Bill to encourage him, he is donating most of his free time for his health and a worthy organization. These children need all our help !!!! GO BILL & SUE !!!!!!!!
Bill,
I guess this means you’re officially “off your rocker” . . . a good thing as we get older 🙂 ! Never too much exercise as far as I’m concerned and what a great cause. Best of luck in continued training for this over the summer.
Mark
My heart is bursting with pride over your dedication. Have enjoyed the menu info. I’ll be the one in the pink Caddy looking younger than you and gorgeous while you’re all sweaty and gross.
Love, Sis
What a great goal. Good luck, Bill!

You’re making all us youngsters look bad. I’ll be thinking about you. Luv you, bro!
We’re very impressed with your progress thus far, Bill. We know you can do it!
I find myself praying for you as you continue to press through the obstacles of which this heat is one of them. You are to be admired. Sue is an amazing wife – “help mate”.
Peace
Stan
56 miles….. I’m getting tired thinking about it. Are you sure you didn’t mean 5-6 miles? What a great goal to go after. One thing I can say is that once Bill set his minds to something set back and watch things happen. This is a milestone that not many people can say they can do or heard of anyone doing. You are a inspiration to so many and what a great organization.
Best of luck my Friend
Just checking to see how you are coming on your project. This is one heck of a goal. Good luck.

Bill-
This will be a great accomplishment. What an example, improving yourself while improving those around you! Good luck and enjoy the journey!

Bill as I run 1-2 miles for personal training it just blows my mind that you are going to run 56 miles. I wish you the best of luck in your goal.
What a great idea, and how inspiring! A prayer for you as you are in your final week of preparation.
