I am using my 56-mile run to make people in Nashville and beyond aware of a great program: The Salama Institute.
The Salama Institute
For 25 years, Salama (Swahili word for peace) has provided students in the Greater Nashville area a path to success. Their life-changing programs equip students with skills needed for success in life and to nurture lives of integrity and hope through the foundation of faith.
100% of the students in the Salama program graduate from high school, as compared to nearly 70% of students in Nashville. Nationwide, low-income students are more than twice as likely to drop out as middle-income students and more than 10 times as likely as high-income students.
The Salama Institute depends solely on charitable contributions for direct costs like teaching staff, curriculum, transportation and food. On average, Salama spends over 700 hours every year with each student — at an average of $10 per hour.
You can make a significant difference in the path students set for themselves. Your support helps provide year-round programming including academics, computer skills, performing and visual arts, life skills training, and life applications of Biblical principles.

Bill:
i would like to contribute to the cause, but for some reason the donate button did not work for me. Put me down for $10 per mile ($560 total assuming you do not die on the course).
Bill,
To run 56 miles at any age is an amazing feat. To run 56 miles at 56 years old is ncredible! I don’t think I could WALK 56 miles in 56 days. Good luck on this ambitious goal.
Paul
